Artist Statement

Kids and adults are irresistibly drawn to the line of wheels, lights and sounds.  As they walk by the mounted bicycle wheels, they reach out and spin them, discovering they make different sounds or light up in a unique pattern. The wheels are interactive, combining motion, sound and light in a fun, playful way.

I make sculpture that is interactive, immersive, and fun. I am interested in how the viewer will engage with the piece and what emotions can be evoked.  Will they touch it, play with it, climb on it?  How can I draw them in?

Whether I am using simple, everyday materials, (bicycle wheels) or technology, (interactive beacons), bronze or resin, I want the audience to participate with each piece. Movement is interesting; it may be a bronze piece that evokes the movement in a yoga pose or a spinning bicycle wheel, it draws the viewer into the art.
